![]() Well, smultron is not a berry that you can easily harvest, but you can find wild in the Swedish skog (forrest). But the size is part of the charm, I would say. You just wish it would be as big as a strawberry. It has a really strong aroma and is sweeter. Its taste is approximately as a strawberry, just that it is even better. If I try to describe it, I would say it looks like a very small strawberry, like one you couldn’t even believe is for real – but it is. Google translates that as strawberry but the word for strawberry in Swedish is actually jordgubbe and smultron is really another berry. Ställe means place and smultron, well, that’s harder to translate. To get to know what it means you need first to understand its components. We can at least try.Īmongst all Swedish idioms, smultronställe must be my favourite. I can’t find a good translation to any other language but the meaning of this post is to help you understand and not feel lost if they ever appear somewhere in your life again (who knows, right?). Some really awesome things happened this year! Rickard, who started Froggy, arranged for mass media and photo shoots to promote what we were doing with wakeboarding in Sweden. It's amazing how much people learn in just one day. We have a blast cheering each other on and witnessing the progression. Wakeboarding in Sweden is growing really fast and the people there are very talented. It is so fun! I run day classes through Froggy out on the perfect lake teaching basic fundamentals, boat operation and the first flips and spins. Froggy is one of the top shops in northern Europe, a Centurion boat dealer and does a great job moving A LOT of product.įroggy recruits more than 100 riders for me to meet and ride with during my stay in Sweden. This was my third trip to Sweden to promote wakeboarding and to teach riders with Froggy Vattensport. Plus, I always meet boatloads of stoked riders pumped on maximizing their summer season, so coaching is a breeze and the riders are so fun to work with. The Smultron, the candy, fine quality foods, Fisherman's Friend shots, endless summer sunlight and enough pretty blonde girls to go around to staff McDonald's, will not leave you disappointed. First of all, Sweden is awesome! If you ever get the chance to go there, don't hesitate. ![]()
